Position Overview:
The Marine Associate will assist in the sale of, and account management of commercial and recreational marine accounts promoting the prospecting and sale of marine new business, managing, enhancing and retaining marine client relationships, serving as an advocate on all marine risks and insurance needs through comprehensive and responsive support using effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Office environment - sitting, standing, extended periods of time using a mouse and keyboard and viewing computer screens; wearing a headset to answer phone calls; occasional travelling between offices and/or meetings/classes. Infrequent lifting of <25lbs. Movement between points within the same office.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- In conjunction with the marine sales team, assists in the sale, promotion of, and prospecting of marine new business.
- Provides assistance and support in managing, retaining and enhancing marine client relationships in collaboration with the marine sales and administrative teams, as well as management.
- Serve as the client’s advocate on all marine risk and insurance issues.
- Assist the marine sales team with the completion of applications, submissions of applications to eligible and appropriate carriers, and timely follow up to ensure receipt of quotations and policies.
- Supports the marine sales team in preparing summaries of insurance, schedules, and proposals.
- Ensures quality standards of the agency are met to include E&O best practices.
- Develop and maintain long-term, high-quality relationships with the sales and administrative teams.
- Growing and developing emphasis on and understanding of the nature and challenges of each marine client relationship.
- Effectively manage the day-to-day activities and requirements in support of the marine sales team and management; set priorities and manages workflow to ensure efficient, effective and timely responsiveness in support of the marine sales and service effort.
- Work collaboratively with the marine sales team and management to identify marine client needs, prepare applications, proposals, and place business appropriately and timely.
- Keeps informed regarding marine industry information, new product information, legislation, coverages, and technology to continuously improve knowledge and performance.
- Provide responsive and comprehensive service to client accounts
- Orders and issues binders, certificates, policies, endorsements and other related items; verify their accuracy; forwards them to client with appropriate correspondence.
- Processes renewals in coordination with Account Executives.
- Verifies policy and policy change information, facilitating corrections when necessary.
- Develop and maintain long-term, high-quality relationships with the decision makers and personnel of each assigned client, with an emphasis on understanding the nature, challenges and risk exposures of each client’s business.
- During renewals as well as new and mid-term additions of risk, work collaboratively with Account Manager(s) to analyze client needs, prepare applications and proposals, place business appropriately and on time, and to identify risks to properly protect client’s assets, utilizing standard carrier markets as well as specialty markets as required.
Position Requirements:
- Insurance or customer service experience preferred but not required; and/or not licensed.
- Knowledgeable in Marine Property, GL, Auto, and WC coverage combined with the ability to effectively communicate and review these subjects with clients and carriers a plus.
- Strong computer skills with and familiarity with tools such as Outlook, Excel, Word and Applied.
- Possess an active Rhode Island Producer’s license (or the ability to obtain one upon request)
- Ability to make a good first impression based upon the total of one’s personality, character, and professionalism.
- Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills required to develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, carriers and other entities beneficial to the success of the Company.
- Bachelor’s Degree a plus
- 1-3 years of Customer service experience
