The Human Resources Manager administers all aspects of employee relations for the company. This position

carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: benefits administration, employee relations,

performance management, onboarding, policy implementation, recruitment/employment, employment law


Essential Functions

• Recruitment / On-Boarding / Off-Boarding

o Source new employees, identify and implement recruiting efforts, post jobs

o Review applications and resumes, coordinate interviews of potential candidates, check

references, new hire paperwork, on-boarding

o Create exit procedures for terminations (i.e. what to do when employee quits, accesses removed,

etc.), conduct exit interviews, document and communicate

• Employee training and development

o Development of apprenticeship program

• Grant funding

o Identify areas of opportunity for state or federal grant funding for employee payroll

o Administer grant funding paperwork, follow up for receipt of payments

• Performance reviews and annual appraisals

o Provide support and documentation for project managers and team leaders

o Identify and communicate issues requiring corrective action as it relates to accountability and

shop policies as defined in employee handbook, provide documentation for corrective actions,

conduct performance meetings

o Track new hire performance during 60 day introductory period

o Review and update performance appraisals annually, as needed

o Administer performance review process annually, completed in Q2

• Payroll / Scheduling

o Audit timekeeping and prepare weekly payroll detail

o Maintain attendance logs

o Prepare weekly schedule, maintain Google calendar

• Benefit package administration

o New hires and terminations

o Present benefit package to team each November for following year

o Annual review of plan effectiveness

o Open enrollment

o Work with providers to understand and remain compliant with state and federal benefit

regulations, i.e. healthcare

o Payroll deduction coordination

• Employee Handbook Administration

o Evaluate and update annually, per labor laws

o Identify areas of opportunity and create new policies as needed

• Worker’s Compensation Administration

• Other

o Answer employment related questions; improve employee communications

o Identify areas opportunity for improving shop morale

o Maintain job descriptions

o Create/maintain paperless HR documentation system

o Maintain employee files

o Manage weekly meeting agendas, take minutes

o Maintain driver list for shop truck

o Manage expense reports / reimbursements

o Maintain business cards

o Provide other operational support as needed

Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no direct reports but is expected to enforce company policy to all personnel.

Work Environment

This position requires time spent on the shop floor and exposure to shop elements including noise, moving parts,

dust and fumes. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers,

filing cabinets and scanners.

Physical Demands

Must possess mobility to work in a standard office environment and on production floor, use standard office

equipment, including a computer, and walk and climb stairs, strength to carry supplies, equipment and materials

to 20 lbs, vision to read printed materials on computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person

and over the phone.

Position Type & Expected Work Hours

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., 40 hours

per week. This position occasionally requires long hours.


Limited local travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience

1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related degree

2. Ability to develop trust and rapport with employees at all levels of the organization

3. Excellent written and verbal communication skills

4. Confidentiality

5. Excellent Administrative and Data Management skills

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

1. SHRM-PC, SHRM-SCP, SPHR or PHR certification

2. Master’s Degree in related field

3. Experience in Manufacturing related business a plus
